Domain tips thread

#1

Post by chilli.domains » July 23rd, 2020, 9:17 am

Seems a few here have their own tips and favorite topic threads going on, I want to start one about domain tips.

#1 I see people asking ridiculous prices for non-.com domains. No one in their right mind will pay premium price for a domain that is not a dot com to start a site they hope to grow big.

The natural instinct of the average surfer is to go type in the dot com not the .net .org .blahblahblam.

So for sellers be realistic and for buyers remember this simple fact if you already do not know.

Now if you own the dot com then by all means go a head pay whatever you feel is right to buy up the related tld.

when looking to buy a domain the age is a major factor, what is important about the age is if it has been dropped and re-registered. A domain in constant use with the same site is worth much more than one that has expired, re-registered changed use.....

Suggestion never register your domains through your hosting company and always, I said always make sure you have the correct contact information, I have seen domains get suspended for fake contact information. PLUS always "Lock" your domains so they can not be transferred by some malicious hacker or by accident.

Gdaddy sends an email every year asking me to verify if my contacts are current, since I change nothing with my domains I check and confirm it is current, that is that.

I run across this all the time and it is stupid.
Do NOT register or buy domains with zero instead of the "O" it makes absolutely no sense.

Example; 0ranges.com in place of oranges.com no one is that dumb to type a zero in place of an "O"

Have a nice day
