You still think we in America and Europeans need to be driving electric cars and trucks to save the planet?

" All but one of the 100 cities with the world’s worst air pollution last year were in Asia, according to a new report, with the climate crisis playing a pivotal role in bad air quality that is risking the health of billions of people worldwide.

The vast majority of these cities — 83 — were in India and all exceeded the World Health Organization’s air quality guidelines by more than 10 times, according to the report by IQAir, which tracks air quality worldwide.

The study looked specifically at fine particulate matter, or PM2.5, which is the tiniest pollutant but also the most dangerous. Only 9% of more than 7,800 cities analyzed globally recorded air quality that met WHO’s standard, which says average annual levels of PM2.5 should not exceed 5 micrograms per cubic meter."

"Canada had North America's worst air quality in 2023 because of wildfires, report says
Last year marked the first time Canada was the most polluted country in North America since IQAir started producing its annual report in 2017. The fires played a role in U.S. air quality, as well. "

Canada had the worst air quality in North America in 2023 , I thought northern countries had cleaner and better air quality.

Climate change is the one thing that affects everybody on the planet. What happens in one country affects EVERY country and the argument that "why should we do it if another country isn't doing it" is just going to lead to disaster.

For once mankind has got to stop thinking on an individual country level and start thinking GLOBALLY. We did it with Covid so we know it can be done

Prime example, last year my father was lucky enough to go on a cruise round the far east. He showed me a video and 25 miles off the coast of Indonesia, the ship is sailing through a thick layer of trash.... and it wasn't Indonesian trash either, it was all European and American carrier bags and stuff like that. Why ??? Because we pay Indonesia to take our garbage and the Indonesian's dont know what to do with it so they flush it straight into the sea. We dont care so long as it doesn't reach our shores. Thats the mentality we are dealing with

I honestly have nothing against more types of cars, innovation is good but trying to ram it down peoples' throats with deadlines is what i have a problem with. I remember Trump saying give people gas, hybrid and EV options let them decide. I agree with that.

The range is not there, the charging times are too long and they are too expensive for the regular person trying to buy a car, and god help you when the battery needs replacing, you might as well total the shit. Think of it, you're a woman sitting at some charge point for half an hour on your own at dark, how safe is that.

It is safe to say China has done a better job cleaning up it's cities and infrastructure than India, you look at India the slums and poverty is rampant.
