Disney says "The Muppet Show" is offensive

Post by fantastico » February 22nd, 2021, 8:34 am

what??????

"Even the Muppets are “offensive” these days.

Anyone who streams “The Muppet Show” on Disney+ will see a declaimer first — warning of “offensive content.”

Disney released five seasons of the iconic show for streaming on Friday, allowing viewers to enjoy watching Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and their celebrity guests as part of its $6.99-a-month service.

The disclaimer shown prior to each episode warns viewers that the show features “stereotypes” and “mistreatment of people or cultures.”

“This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now,” the disclaimer states.

“Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together,” the disclaimer says. "

Let me read that again, Disney is saying their show is "Offensive content?"

This politically correct crap is going really too stupid. Now the company producing a show is saying it is "Offensive" lol.

Anyways I never liked the Muppets as a kid and didn't watch it on Satudrays so who cares.

Not justifying or condoning racism in anyway, i am against it but let me explain what i have seen on tv.

If you look at British tv from the 1960-1980's there are multiple episodes where you can say there is racism against, blacks people, Germans, French, Irish, Welsh Scots...

I don't think it was always meant as a racist jab at others but how people had stereotypes and thought it was funny in shows. There was even a show called the "Black and white minstrel show" which I found offensive even as a kid, why white men would paint their faces black and act as if they were black never sat well with me.

Times have changed because we understand why racism is bad, now some things have just gone over the limit and people are getting fired for what they said in the day that was not really meant as racist but is today.

It al comes down to education, the more we are educated in life the more tolerant and understanding we become. And I do not mean just getting a degree, education is more than a peace of paper.
